moreKiwanis is a worldwide service organization “dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time”. We are focused on improving lives through fellowship in service.
Boonslick Kiwanis Club is one of five Kiwanis clubs in Columbia, MO. Organized in 1966, Boonslick is one of the two breakfast clubs. We meet every Wednesday morning from 7:00 am to 8:00 am at HyVee South in the Rock Bridge Shopping Center . Our group of over 40 members likes to have fun and informative meetings. Every meeting includes a speaker. Presentations are varied but always educational.
We are first and foremost a service organization and this is where Kiwanis really shines. We like to volunteer our time to help others. Some of the service projects that we have participated in include working at Lee Elementary school, helping to refurbish the Boys and Girls Club, Clean up Columbia, the Community Nursery School, Rainbow House and helping to clean up the Kiwanis Park to name a few. We also work with Rockbridge students through Key Club, and the Aktion Club for adults with disabilities.
Boonslick Kiwanis Club is privileged to work with kids in Service Leadership Clubs at Lee Elementary, Gentry Middle School and Rock Bridge High School as well as a group of adults with disabilities. Each of these clubs develops a plan for how they would like to lead the community through service and then puts that service project into action!
Our club participates in various fund-raising activities in order to provide financial help to needy groups in our community. Some of these activities include a Pancake breakfast, an annual 8K run and, new this year, a Star Wars trivia contest.
Kiwanis International has joined forces with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. To learn more about this project, the disease and the ongoing efforts to eliminate it please click here.
If you want to make a difference in our community, please consider joining us on Wednesday mornings.
